Can Colors Make or Break Your Business?

Do colors have an affect on us? In anyway, do they influence our purchases? Or in our business decisions such as the color of walls in our offices or in our logos or marketing materials?

Have you ever noticed that the wall color, or that of the carpet. or of the furniture can make you feel relaxed or antsy?

For me, my hot button is the color orange. Do NOT like orange. It's like waving a red flag in front of a bull.

There is one exception to that, and that may be because I worked in Home Depot over one Christmas Season. Still, to this day, I can walk into a Home Depot and feel relaxed, at home, and secure in the knowledge of the quality of the merchandise - even though I am surrounded by orange all the way through the store.

Still, is there anything to this entire color question? I say yes. And I am not alone...

"Whether you’re wondering what color to paint the office, or you’re looking to redesign your retail space, the colors you choose can increase your chance of reaching your goals. Color greatly influences human emotion and behavior. If you’re hoping to make your workers more productive, or you want to encourage shoppers to spend money, understanding the basics of color psychology can help you design a space that will maximize your potential." Note 1

"Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long believed that color can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions. "Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions," the artist Pablo Picasso once remarked.

Color is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions. Certain colors have been associated with increased blood pressure, increased metabolism, and eyestrain." Note 2

Do I think this is true at all times and in all cases? Not a chance! Here's an example for you:

Sometime ago, I had the opportunity to be in two homes or businesses that boasted similar color schemes and furniture. The owners were very similar in temperament and personality. And yet, I was completely at home and relaxed in one and totally on edge the entire time I was in the other. Go figure!

I have found through well spent research time reading several experts' findings, that they all have (pretty much), the same opinions on each color. Here is just one example:

"Marketers and graphic designers have long known that color plays a major role in the success of any marketing campaign. Specific colors tend to stir certain emotions in customers, thus creating brand relevance and motivating purchases. The following lists 10 colors that increase sales, along with the specific emotions they evoke." Note 3

We must keep in mind that, just because we like a particular color scheme, it does not mean all our co-workers, clients, or our friends will.

This is where I can help YOU and YOUR business. I can work WITH you to choose the right colors for, not only your office, but your furniture, your décor, and can also advise or choose the correct mode of color - for example RGB, CMYK, Pantone, etc. - to make your marketing materials and display materials look their best.

Even better, as a professional photographer, I can take photos to be used on YOUR website, as well as your marketing materials. Perhaps, even with the choice and making of "Thank you" items for customers.

All of this is food for thought for your office, your home, and more!

Please keep me in mind and reach out to me. I would love to work with you to take your business to the next level! Wouldn't you?
