Mary, Did You Know?

To me, this is THE Christmas Song.
All others are great, but this one, this song is what it's ALL about.
Do me a favor, please, and read the lyrics first and then come back to the rest of this week's blog:
"Mary, Did You Know?" by Mark Lowry
Mmm, yeah, oh Mary, did you know That your baby boy will one day walk on water? Mary, did you know That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know That your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered Will soon deliver you Mary, did you know That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary, did you know That your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand? Did you know That your baby boy has walked where angels trod? And when you kiss your little baby You've kissed the face of God Mary, did you know? Oh, Mary, did you know? The blind will see The deaf will hear And the dead will live again The lame will leap The dumb will speak The praises of the Lamb Mary, did you know That your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know That your baby boy will one day rule the nations? Did you know That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb? This sleeping child you're holding Is the Great I Am Oh Mary did you know? Ooh, Mary did you know? Mmm, Mary did you know?
I wonder frequently and often what must have gone through Mary's head. After all, she was still a child herself!
And yet, when God's mighty angel spoke to heard, she listened. More, she obeyed, without question, without doubt.
Because of her faith, her obedience, her love, the rest of us have our Savior!
Oh sure, Abba doesn't need a human to complete what He does. Still, he included a young girl in this, the event of all time...until the end of the story. But that will come at Easter.
She listened to Abba, she obeyed Abba, and she delivered Abba's promise to all mankind.
And still, I wonder if she really knew what was in store.
Poopy diapers. Colds. Temper tantrums. Did Our Savior in His human childhood experience that. And more?
If yes, how did His mother deal with disciplining the Child of God?
So many things beyond even the golden verses written by Mark Lowry run through my head every year at this time.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
This is going to be the last song in this year's Musical Christmas Countdown, just as it has been every year.
But, for today, I want to share two versions with you.
Of course, the one by Mark Lowry, but also a version from Carrie Underwood. Just wanted to see if a man sings it any different that a woman, a mother. Just curious.
Thank you, as always, for checking out my website, photos, blog and all. You are SO appreciated!!
Let me know which you prefer. Also, would love to know why!!
