The Light of the World

John 8:12: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the wolrd. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Isaiah 60:20: Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.
John 1:5: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 8:12: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Revelation 22:5: And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever."
I think most of us rarely give conscious thought to light. We assume the sun will light our days, and the sun and moon and stars will light our nights.
But those lights can fail.
Clouds can hide the sun, the moon, and the stars.
Light bulbs can, and do, burn out.
Even fires burn out and/or we extinguish them.
Candles last only as long as the wax and the wick can burn.
Imagine the world in total darkness. It's difficult to do. Even during eclipses, there is light still available.
But we all have an eternal light available to us. You know that, right?
This light never dims, never burns out, is always, always, always available to us.
You know the light of which I speak, right?
Of course you do!
I know the first name that came to mind was Jesus. Yes, that is a correct answer.
However, He is but One of the Three in One, right?
We also have our Abba, and the Holy Spirit.
Three in One who light our world, our hearts, our lives, and our way.
What brought this to my mind today was being at the beach waiting for the sun to rise and shine.
That gentleman in the photo above walked past me and I saw that he had a runner's lamp on his head.
You know what I mean.
A kind of sweatband, if you will, around his head and with a light attached to it pointing down and forward so he can see his way when walking or running.
But, I noticed something else.
The light shines brightest when it's the closest to him.
Wow!
Never consciously thought about it before in this way.
However, isn't our Light brighter and warmer when we are closer to It, to Him?
Or course it is!
And during our every waking moment, we have times when we are walking side by side with Him.
We also have moments when we have wandered away from Him. Sometimes, that distance is far wider than we would like it to be.
But, WE are the ones who moved away. Not Him. No, never, ever Him!
Does He turn, run, and/or hide from us?
Never!
He is available to us 24/7/365.
Think about that. Think about the millions, billions of people on the face of the earth.
And yet, He is available to ME, and to YOU at any time. Any moment in time.
The only catch is this: We have to invite Him in. We have to reach out to Him.
Oh, He will always be there available for us AND He will reach out to meet us - but ONLY when we seek Him.
Never, ever will any of the Three in One force their Presence on us.
Like the light from that headlamp, we may be on the periphery of the Light, but He won't come closer, or shine His Light brightly on us until we seek it.
While Abba, the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are omnipotent and omnipresent - hear me well - they will never, ever force their presence, their love, nor their light on us.
So, as we wander through this crazy world waiting for the time to go Home, why would we ever be in the dark?
And yet, we are. Frequently. Often. Sometimes, for long periods.
Why?
Because we are human becomings. And, we will be until we go Home.
Again, our Three in One are a never ending source of Light.
Until it's too late.
And there is an expiration date on the availability to meet the requirement to receive it.
Yes, there is a requirement. Mentioned it above. We must seek it, ask for it, accept it.
And, we must do so before the appointed time. If you do not know of what I speak, I recommend reading the Book of Revelations, seeking our your Pastor, or friends, or family who are part of the Family.
You don't want to miss the boat. Not THAT boat.
Again, if you know not of what I speak, re-read the paragraph above.
It's not too late yet. Yet!
You have the opportunity to shine just as the bright as the Light He shines on You! Why would you not want that?
Seriously, why?
Keep in mind that Light brings warmth. Light brings a sense of safety and security.
And, this Light, shines forever. Eternity.
Don't miss the boat. Don't pass on this Gift. Don't choose to spend eternity in the eternal flames in hell.
There will be no escaping. There will be no relief. There will be no love. There will be no Abba, Lord Jesus, nor Holy Spirit there.
Look around at what is going on in the world today.
It has turned upside down.
Lost it's mind and it's good sense.
All signs put in place to warn us just how close we are to the ultimate destination awaiting us.
Which destination will or have you chosen?
Hell?
Or Heaven?
You must choose. Only you can choose. Choose wisely.
But do not miss the opportunity!
Ask. Seek. Knock.
You will be eternally glad you did.
